Brain Health

I got sober from drug addiction/alcoholism in late 2009/early 2010. As the fog lifted I set myself on a journey to heal physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. In my quest for healing, I sought out information on how the brain is affected by different drugs. Furthermore, I wanted to know if complete healing was possible and if so, how long it would take.

At the time my faith in Christ was still in its infancy. However, through my studies, I learned that healing was possible scientifically. I’ll never forget the day a spark of hope was ignited in me.

I had rented a DVD series created by doctors talking about the effects of different drugs on the brain. As I watched the DVDs with bated breath, I heard a doctor say, “the brain has the amazing ability to heal itself.” I got down on my knees and sobbed.

I wanted to stay sober more than anything, but I was suffering from depression as I depleted so many of my brain’s chemicals. Once I found this hope, I could persevere.

Today my faith has grown to not only know that science supports God but God can heal supernaturally. Scientists can be baffled by the human brain and certain anomalies, which is why it’s such an enthralling thing to study.

Anyway, I find the human brain quite fascinating and continue to study it. When I was renewing my teaching license, I took a course titled, “Brain Power Strategies”. In this course, I read a book titled, Brain Rules by Dr. John MedinaThis series will mostly focus on the 12 brain rules Dr. Medina has coined; however, I may pull in additional resources from time to time. Enjoy the many fascinations of the human brain…
